Kate Spade has always been one of those brands that is really good at doing the whole “selling-of-lifestyle-via-pricey-purse” thing. First, in seventh grade we all got black boxy purses for Christmanukkah, carefuly wearing them label side OUT. Then, Kate started in on the poppy, sixties, wonderful ad campaigns and, let’s face it, we’ve been sold ever since.

Good news for you and me: Kate et al. are finally going to stop teasing the masses and give in to their huge world-conquering brand potential with the addition of a clothing line for women. The line is going to debut spring of next year in Kate Spade stores and eventually branch out into a full wholesale venture. So get ready for great stripe-y, kelly-green and yellow confections!

Last weekend I noticed the Jim Henson Studios on La Brea for the first time! Very exciting moment in my life, I can assure you.

Also, this new video of Feist on Sesame Street is circulating around, making me feel like a kid in a damn candy store!

I got a belt on, that’s holding up my pants. And my pants have belt loops that hold up my belt. I don’t really know what’s happening down there. Who is the real hero? (Mitch Hedberg, duh)

A CNP email circulating quicker than these freaked out interns’ bloodstreams:

Hi Everyone -

As you know, Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue, and Editorial Director of Teen Vogue, Men’s Vogue and Vogue Living, is presenting this Wednesday, July 16th.

Anna will discuss her career, stories of former successful Vogue interns and will give advice on how to do well in the business of journalism.

The second portion of the presentation will be a Q&A session. Please come prepared with thoughtful questions. I recommend that you read the brief bio on Anna, which is posted on the Intern home-page. This is such a priviledge for all of us and we want you to make the most of this opportunity.

The presentation will start promptly at 9:00am. I recommend that everyone is seated in the auditorium by 8:45am in case Anna begins a few minutes early. If the door is closed when you arrive, do not enter because you will have to walk in front of Anna while she is presenting.

Look forward to seeing you!

How cool! I hope someone will stumble over here and tell me how it went. Way cool!

With Bastille Day still fresh in the air, this week is quickly becoming the Week of the Fashion Contest.

Last friday, the British Fashion Council announced the recipients of its 3rd annual Fashion Forward award for emerging British talent. The award went to Christopher Kane, Roksanda Ilincic, Marios Schwab and Erdem. Each of the contestants show their work at London Fashion week, receive a cash prize and gain the mentoring support of the BFC. More here.

Tomorrow, Project Runway 5.0 starts. Enough said.

Today the CFDA announced their fashion fund finalists! They are: Richard Chai, Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, Irene Neuwirth, Albertus Q. Swanepoel of Albertus Quartus, Alejandro Ingelmo, Juan Carlos Obando, Swaim and Christina Hutson of Obedient Sons & Daughters, John Patrick of Organic, and Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai of Vena Cava.
