Lady Gaga looks like the raddest of easter eggs in March American Vogue.

Getting excited that it seems like the 90s interpretation of the 70s seems to be a comeback trend. Should have saved so many things.
Our manager just sent over this rad little video. When these ladies are covering their French chests, they are sporting some totally mignon outfits. Also, friends are great.
Last weekend, I saw one of my childhood favorites, The Sound of Music, writ large (really large! 70 mm, baby!) on the big screen courtesy of the American Cinematheque. Now I’m no film buff, but I’m pretty sure now I know how to solve a problem like Maria. THAT WARDROBE! Never noticed it before. Too busy having con-fi-dence in meee. Let me tell you, if you’ve got to slip away to Switzerland after doing a command performance at the Strasburg Folk Festival this is the way to do it.
Take it from the top (left): felt hats from Need Supply Company; cape from Anthropologie; compass and whistle keychain from Brook Farm General Store; knit button hat from Steven Alan; gray wool booties by 80%20; backpack basket from Kaufmann Merchantile; sweater by Steven Alan; yellow skirt from APC; boots from Totokaelo; gray jacket from APC.

During an obligatory Etsy troll I found this really awesome Aussie lingerie line, Hopeless. Each vintage-style piece is handmade in silk.

I have a folder in my RSS feed named “cutesters” for those aspirational blogs of nebulous subject matter — people who seem to just sort of have it going on. One of my favorites in this category is a little blog called fieldguided, by a lady named Anabela who, day after day, makes even Toronto look fantastic.
All of which is to introduce you to a new project she’s cooked up with equally awesome Esty-shopstress Caitlin: a line of simple bags in stunning fabrics, called Summer Water. Unfortunately these beauts are about as ephemeral and elusive as some of my favorite blogs… And they’re already sold out. Per usual, I’ll just have to admire. Hopefully we’ll see more from these two soon!

After yesterday’s bout of logorrhea, I’m going to let these guys do the talking. Fantastic.

But in a good way!
I’m sorry to my readers, my internet companions (I hardly know ye) — I’ve been away all week in Maine with my family. I had every last intention of updating, but there were too many bugs to swat and dogs to pat and sand to dust off. But here I am now! Bearing good news!
The good news is this. Normally, I go to Maine, I remember what it’s like to feel cold and cozy, and then, I’m sick of summer. I get really into tweed. Fall in love all over again, if you will. And then the rest of summer drags.
I’ve been inordinately obsessed with summer this year and I was really hoping the momentum would last post-Maine. And it did. With the help of Bhalo (silky and easy and nostalgic) and someone… that I can’t remember. Some genius posted about them and I didn’t take note of who it was in my blind and ignorant and internet-hungry state. WAS IT YOU? (let me know so I can tell everyone!!).
Anyway, Bhalo is awesome. I want it all.

I love these Swatch-like watches from Toronto-based May 28th. As if a multitude of fun and bright patterns weren’t enough, their elastic watchbands make this an easy-breezy summer accessory. Website is here.

I didn’t realize that Confetti System also makes beautiful silk and leather necklaces! Wish I could go back in time and add some of these to my peach & khaki roundup. Quelles dommages.

After exiting the fashion world to start families, former LaRok designers (and longtime friends) Cary Vaughan and Jenna Wilson are back with a sophisticated and wearable line called Ace & Jig.
Talk about a line that Gets Me Right Here — like my very own mother before them, Vaughan and Wilson travel halfway around the world to India to oversee the production of their yarn-dye woven fabric, working with weavers one on one.

I think it’s interesting when the proper lighting, color and texture can make something you’d (well, I’d) never probably wear look so appealing and fresh. Taken from a post on Garance Doré about details.

Remember summer vacation? Please someone find a way to get me out of this air conditioning and into the outdoors — pull a fire alarm, something. I’m hankering for it.

What, I ask you, is the point of a resort collection if not to inspire some sort of fantasy life? I mean, I know there’s all manner of business-related, fiscal things. Winter season being too long. Need of new merchandise. For me, a resort collection should have a whimsical, almost confectionary quality — purely aesthetic and entirely aspirational. The french macaroons of fashion. Chris Benz’s 2011 resort collection is exactly that for me. It’s what I want my imaginary uniform to be, for my made up life wherein I’m an accomplished novelist living — and entertaining — in Palm Springs.
Click through for a video (in crazy HD!) of M. Benz presenting the collection to Stylecaster. I defy you to keep your jaw (teeth, tongue, everything) off the floor during some of these close ups.

Ordinarily, I’m not sure if I would share this, since at heart I’m a greedy, greedy, greedy person. But guess what! I’m feeling very generous today, so I will let you know about this: the zany-brainy ladies at Vena Cava are holding an online garage sale. If I wasn’t about to hold one of my own, I’d be all over it. Particularly the jar of Lisa’s self esteem. You can also buy their Volvo!

Pretty great when you come across a line that just clearly gets it. As in, what I wish I could be wearing everyday for the next four months. Maybe the best part: Quail‘s designer (L.A.-native!) Michelle Nguyen Williams’ inspiration is her well-heeled girlfriends. How’s that for the ultimate in (and best form of) SWF-style flattery?
Oh, also, this is worth noting:

An L.A.-resident whose favorite fashion season happens to be fall, spring collections don’t get me quite as pumped. Harvey Faircloth really gave me a run for my money. Shoot. Want it all — color! polish! denim! Plus, didn’t it look like they had fun at their lookbook shoot?
Is it just me (and the fact that “Zinzi Edmundson” is currently the keyword driving the most traffic here for some reason), or are the fall collections, with their 70s silhouettes, fur and lamé, taking a hard turn towards disco?

Love this Karen Walker tshirt dress with a geometric mineral graphic. Reminds me of another discovery from today — my friend Nina introduced me to the Missouri state mineral, Galena (also a prominent figure in Avatar, I’m told). Galena mineral flakes off in layers — similar to the layered sleeves on said t-dress. Cool!

Available {on sale!!} at bows & arrows
